‘The Host’ is looking to take a leaf out of the Hunger Games and Twilight playbook, as they have decided to do mall tours before the film releases on March 29th. The Hunger Games managed to built a huge amount of buzz by using that technique, and by the end of the mall tours, everyone in America knew about the movie that was causing mass hordes and security at major malls across the country.

Although it’s doubtful that The Host will be able to emulate The Hunger Games’ success, it’s worth noting that it is from the same author as the Twilight Saga, so will come built-in with its own brand of passionate fans. The book is widely considered to be much better than Twilight, although that may not account for a whole lot as Twilight is not well liked outside of its fan base.
Jake Abel, one of leads of the film, took to his Twitter to announce the mall tour, saying, “@TheHostFilm tour dates coming in. I’m seeing Miami, ATL, Dallas, Spain… Keep an eye out for special screenings and what-not in your hometown.”

‘The Host’ also has the advantage of starring critical darling Saoirse Ronan as well as big names in William Hurt, Diane Kruger, and Frances Fisher. Of course, the two leads, Jake Abel and Max Irons, have the type of swooning good looks that go well with its target audience, and it doesn’t hurt that the story also features a love triangle.
