Keith Richards has revealed that he never thought Disney would ever agree to cast him in the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’. Speaking to the Los Angeles Times he said "No one is more surprised by all of it than me, I never expected to work for the Disney organisation for a while. I'm still shocked, but, hey, it's all good fun."
Richards, 67, made his name as the guitarist in The Rolling Stones before turning his hand to acting. He made his first appearance in the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ movies in the third instalment, ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End’ where he played Captain William Teague, the father of Johnny Depp’s character Captain Jack Sparrow.
Director Rob Marshall
has spoken of the chemistry that Richards and Depp have, "[Richards] and Johnny have an extraordinary chemistry together, and they really love each other, he said. Johnny Depp has recently admitted that he loves working with Richards
after the two teamed up again for the latest in the series ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides’.
