The history of the Oscars is full of hundreds of fantastic movies that have been made over the years, which is what makes the Best Motion Picture of the Year Oscar one of the biggest and most exciting categories of the whole evening. This category can often throw out some surprises but this year all the films that have been nominated have been good enough to win the award, so there will surely be no real surprise.
The Best Motion Picture of the Year award is going to be a very tightly contested award this year and, while some people have been arguing the case for certain films, it really is anyone's to win. Up for the Best Motion Picture of the Year Oscar at this year's Academy Awards was American Hustle, Captain Phillips, Dallas Buyers Club, Gravity, Her, Nebraska, Philomena, 12 Years a Slave, and The Wolf of Wall Street.
The 2014 Oscars are now well underway and it has been announced that the winner of the Best Motion Picture of the Year award goes to 12 Years a Slave. Those involved with 12 Years a Slave can be truly proud of the achievement, as winning such a tough category is very impressive.
While accepting the Best Motion Picture of the Year Oscar, director Steve McQueen pulled out his pre-planned speech but still went on to thank all the usual people, that being those who came together to make 12 Years a Slave a possibility. He rambled on for a couple of minutes but made sure to thank the people who brought the book 12 Years a Slave to his attention, dedicating the award to those who endured slavery and still do today.
