'The Host' was recently featured as one of our movies to watch for in 2013, and it is with increasing excitement as we watch Open Road Films continue to treat us with pictures and stills from the movie. We got some behind the scenes pictures from the cast twitter last week, but now we have 13 high quality images released exclusively to Host fan sites.

We've embedded three of the images - the ones that give us something entirely knew that we haven't yet seen in the trailer or previous stills. The first image shows Max Irons carrying Saoirse Ronan, the second image shows the scene where Irons and Ronan's characters meet, and the third scene shows a confrontation between Jake Abel and Saoirse Ronan's characters. The other images can be seen at this link and also at various Host and Twilight fan sites.
The official synopsis for 'The Host' is: "A parasitic alien soul is injected into the body of Melanie Stryder. Instead of carrying out her race's mission of taking over the Earth, "Wanda" (as she comes to be called) forms a bond with her host and sets out to aid other free humans."

Although the film has been compared to Twilight due to having the author in common, the similarities mostly seem to end there. Although the writing style is not vastly improved from 'Twilight', both the story and romantic interests in 'The Host' are much more developed and more interesting. Andrew Niccol, the director, is also known for making entertaining and thought provoking sci-fi movies [Gattaca, Simone], and Saoirse Ronan [Atonement, Lovely Bones], the lead actress, is considered to be one of the most talented young stars in Hollywood.
