With The Avengers just a few months away, there have been a number of pictures, trailers and interviews with the stars. We have now decided to give those of you who are unfamiliar with The Avengers a quick rundown on who is who, of those without their own movie, and where they have come from in the world of the Marvel movies.
The Avengers, as you may well know, are a team of Marvel heroes, who have been assembled to fight against a threat that not one of them could handle on their own. From the recent press surrounding The Avengers, there is a strong possibility that you have seen pretty much all of the characters from The Avengers in previous Marvel movies, so here are three of the characters that you may have seen but are not too familiar with.
Nick Fury made his first Marvel outing back in 2008, when he made a small appearance in Iron Man. Nick turned up after the end credits, in what was initially intended as an inside joke for fanboys. However, such was the success of the movie the positive reaction towards the character, that he has been used more and more. Samuel L Jackson has been signed on to appear in multiple Marvel movies as Nick Fury.
Black Widow, who is played by Scarlett Johansson, made her first Marvel movie appearance in the second instalment of the Iron Man franchise. Black Widow lent a helping hand to Tony Stark with some of her very impressive moves. Scarlett Johansson is set to reprise her role as Black Widow after The Avengers, when she will be helping Tony Stark again in Iron Man 3.
Hawkeye, played by the actor Jeremy Renner, showed his face for the very first time in a Marvel movie, when he appeared in last year’s Thor. Hawkeye and Thor do not always see eye to eye and there is suggestions that Hawkeye wants to take Thor down. There have been rumours of a Hawkeye movie being made but this has yet to be officially confirmed.
The Avengers is set to be released in the UK on April 27, 2012 before being released in the US on May 4, 2012.
