Even though Veronica Mars didn’t get huge ratings while it was still airing, critics loved it and fans loved it enough to fund a film adaptation through Kickstarter. This is great news for fans since season 3 had lots of loose ends to tie up. Although it hasn’t been confirmed yet, Aaron Ashmore is rumored to be reprising his role of Troy Vandergraff, a popular kid that attends Neptune High with Veronica. It should be fun to see what Troy has been up to since his high school days.

Aaron Ashmore appeared in Veronica Mars
During the show’s run, Ashmore gave amazing depth to Troy, a character who could have been easily written off as a “bad boy.” Rob Thomas, the creator of the show, created complex characters that weren’t wholly good or bad. At first Troy is seen as a jock who does some bad things, but when he is accused of a crime he didn’t commit he goes to Veronica—a private investigator in training--for help.
The new Veronica Mars movie comes out this next year, so you’ll have to wait until then to see if Ashmore makes an appearance. Some people think that Ashmore is appearing in the 2014 movie X-Men: Days of Future Past but that is actually Ashmore’s brother Shawn. It’s an easy mistake to make, they are identical twins! While Shawn is working on the X-men franchise, Aaron is currently working on a film called Big News from Grand Rock about a journalist who gets in trouble for making up his stories.

The Veronica Mars movie opens next year
Big News from Grand Rock doesn’t have a release date yet, so if you want to watch Ashmore now, check out the 2013 film I Put a Hit on You. In that film, Ashmore plays Ray, a man who has to stop a hit-man from taking him out! Unfortunately no one knows for certain if Ashmore will appear in Veronica Mars, but at least you can see him this year in some great dramas and action films!
