Following the huge success of the movie Kick-Ass, fans were eager for a sequel to get made and, while there was a time when a sequel looked highly unlikely, Kick-Ass 2 has finally made it to the big screen. Aaron Taylor-Johnson is back as Kick-Ass and he has praised his returning co-stars Chloe Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse.
Taylor-Johnson told Flicks and Bits, "It was amazing. I love hanging around with them. They’re awesome, they’re like family and they’re just fantastically talented actors. We didn’t need to do a second one, meaning we weren’t originally contracted to do a sequel, but we all signed up to do it because we all work together really well and we love the story. It was exciting. I really do believe they stepped it up a notch on this one. It’s ramped up, wild, unpredictable, surprising madness! I think it’s funny, but then it’s also emotional."
He added, "These characters go on such a personal, emotional journey. And more importantly, without that you don’t relate to these people with what they’re going through in life and then the reason why they’re dressing up as superheros – which is really dark and intense. When it comes down to that there’s a real soulfulness to it. And then it’s mad and wild and funny. They’re all dressed up as these mad, lunatic superheros trying to beat the crap out of each other (laughs). The great thing about doing the sequel is that you were surrounded by people who really wanted to be there and love the story. I had a lot of fun."
You can catch Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Chloe Moretz and Christopher Mintz-Plasse, along with Jim Carrey, Donald Faison and Lyndsy Fonseca, in Kick-Ass 2, which opened yesterday (August 14) in the UK and opens tomorrow (August 16) in the UK. Check out the Kick-Ass 2 trailer, below.
