Abigail Spencer was nominated for a Television Critics Choice Award for Best Supporting Actress her role in the TV show ‘Rectify’. The nomination comes as a bit of a surprise considering that Rectify airs on the Sundance channel and it’s not a very popular or widely viewed channel, by any means. However, Spencer’s performance was praised for its range and versatility, and it’s great to see her getting honored, especially in such a tough year.
The rest of the nominees for Best Supporting Actress [Drama] include Jennifer Carpenter for Dexter, Emilia Clarke for Game of Thrones, Anna Gunn from Breaking Bad, Regina King from Southland, and Monica Potter from Parenthood.
One of the biggest snubs was Archie Panjabi for ‘The Good Wife’. Not only is Panjabi a common name on this list, but she’s already won an Emmy for her role in ‘The Good Wife’. That being said, I’m sure the critics want to allow someone else a chance to get nominated, and Emilia Clarke is definitely a new face on this list.
So will win? Spencer is actually considered a long-shot for a win, only because it was a surprise that she got nominated. Again, this is not due to her performance, but simply because she’s up against some tough competition and ‘Rectify’ is not very widely seen.
