The beautiful tennis player who became the favourite of many men throughout the world after she posed nude in the ESPN magazine's 2013 "The Body Issue" earned a cheque for $441,000 for her first hard court win of the year and a thank you from her male fans because the win ensures that she will be receiving more attention when she plays at the upcoming US Open.
The win at the tournament for At the Polish tennis star also sends a message to many of her colleagues that her game is rounding into form just in time for the final major tournament of the year, the US Open, and that is not news that will make her colleagues happy. Fans and tennis observers noted that even with big names such as Serena Williams and Victoria Azarenka being at the tournament she was without question the player who played the best and was the most consistent throughout the week.
To reach the finals against Venus Wiliams she had to defeat Victoria Azarenka which she did in very impressive fashion in two sets in the quarterfinals. She then followed that victory with another against Ekaterina Makarova, a player who had been playing very well but whom she beat in the semi-finals in part due to her superb conditioning.
In the finals she wore down Venus Williams with her exceptional efficiency from the baseline in returning balls which she would complement by changing speeds.
The result is she has risen to the number 5 position because of the win which represents her first tournament win since she last won at Seoul in 2013. Considering how ruthlessly efficient she was in Montreal it might not be the last time that fans see her raising the championship trophy in 2014.
