A source who spoke to "The Indian Express" noted that while this movie is considered a huge occasion in her husband's acting career it clashes with Diwali which is "celebrated with great gusto in the Bachchan household every year." During this time many important people in the Bollywood entertainment industry visit the home throughout the evening and night. As such she felt it was the best move for her to stay behind in India so one of the couple could represent at the Diwali celebration.
Some social media entertainment observers however think that there might be another reason why she might want to avoid the Dubai premiere of "Happy New Year". It is no secret that she had to make a huge effort to get in great shape for her stunning appearance at the Cannes Film Festival. The gala at the Dubai premiere will be full of media reporters and her appearance on the red carpet with husband Abhishek Bachchan would be without question one of the most photographed.

In contrast, the Diwali celebration at the Bachchan household is a private affair for the entertainment industry elite and any pictures that are released to the press will be those that she has approved.
Some of her fans hope that this is not part of the reasoning and that the only reason is because the film's release conflict with Diwali celebrations. However, the decision by this Bollywood beauty to skip such a momentous occasion for her husband will not soon be forgotten by Bollywood entertainment observers and now puts her fitness and future projects under even more scrutiny.
