Alec Baldwin was said to of pulled out of the Emmy’s show last night after his sketch was edited out by Fox, as they didn’t approve of the jokes shot in the direction of their parent company News Corp.
But now it appears, Alec Baldwin is backtracking some on his original comments about being unhappy about the ‘best joke’ from the comedy sketch being edited out. Alec Baldwin was spotted in New York last night for Tony Bennett’s 85th birthday gala, and he reportedly said “I didn’t skip the Emmys because of that [his joke being cut from the show], I skipped the Emmy’s because of this [the gala] — because I wanted to be here [at the gala].”. Alec Baldwin was actually the host of the Tony Bennett gala, a position he said he had signed up for long before the Emmy’s date was announced, which does seem very plausible.
Or maybe, just perhaps, Alec Baldwin publicist has warned him not to burn any bridges, especially with Fox, as it could have an adverse effect on his career in Hollywood, which would be good advice, as distancing himself from any sort of public feud with the media giant would be in his best interest, as that is one battle he simply wouldn’t come out on top of.
Either way, it appears he has got away with this one, potential career disaster avoided successfully.
