True Blood actor Alexander Skarsgard is set to appear on the big screen in the movie Battleship, later this month, and the movie will witness the big screen acting debut of singer Rihanna. Alexander has admitted that he was very impressed with Rihanna and claims that she did a fantastic job.

Skarsgard explained, "I was impressed by her work ethic. the days are long on a movie and we had weekends off but she'd go to perform at award shows. It was her first big acting job and she was so enthusiastic."
Alexander then revealed his reasons for accepting the role in Battleship. He added, "The deciding factor for me taking it was meeting the director, Pete Berg. He has a very interesting energy. It's a very big movie but my problem with films like that is sometimes you don't care about the characters, it's just about the explosions, which isn't much fun for an actor.

Skarsgard continued, “Pete's interested in actors and he talked about my character and his relationships, rather than how cool the aliens would look. That was important. If you don't care if the characters live or die, it doesn't matter how cool the rest of it looks."
Battleship is released in the UK on April 11 and in the US on May 18.
