As most of you may well remember, the late great Tupac Shakur was lined up to star in the hit 1993 movie Menace II Society. However, he had a much publicised altercation with writer and director Allen Hughes, who decided that Tupac was too much trouble and replaced him in the film.
Yet, it seems that Allen still has some regrets about the decision, claiming that Tupac would have been so good in Menace II Society, that he would have outshone the star of the movie Larenz Tate. Hughes told MTV News, "If 'Pac had been in the movie he would've outshined everyone. As wonderful a performance as Larenz was, I think Tupac it would've thrown the whole axis of the movie off if Tupac was in it, because he was bigger than the movie."
However, Tyrin Turner, who was one of the other standout performances in Menace II Society, disagrees with Allen Hughes, saying, "I don't think that's accurate. I think Tupac was a great talent and God bless... but there were some other killers out there. Tyrin Turner, Larenz Tate, killers."
Menace II Society had an all-star cast, which included Jada Pinkett-Smith, Samuel L. Jackson, Clifton Powell, Charles S. Dutton, Bill Duke and MC Eiht, as well as the standout performances from Larenz Tate and Tyrin Turner.
Do you think Tupac Shakur would have made Menace II Society a better film?
