Towards the back end of 2011, British Light Welterweight star Amir Khan was involved in a controversial boxing match which saw him lose both his WBA and IBF Light Welterweight titles to Lamont Peterson. Instead of accepting defeat like a man and going away and improving on his mistakes, Amir has taken to crying about it like a petulant child.
Firstly Amir Khan and his team accused the referee of being against him and punishing him for no reason, even though the referee had warned Amir on a number of occasions not to push his opponent and he continued to do so. Now, it seems that Amir and his team of babies have taken to accusing a man at ringside of tampering with the scorecards.
If Amir Khan had have done the job that he said he was going to do and beat Lamont Peterson either by knockout or with a convincing display, then this would not have happened. The fact of the matter is, Amir Khan looked amateurish during that bout, throwing wild punches, not focussing on his defence and lacking the discipline that is needed by true champions.
Amir Khan is a very good boxer but the fact of the matter is that he is not and never will be world class. Yes he can win the odd world title here and there but he will never live up to the true greats of the Welterweight division and should never be mentioned in the same breath as the likes of Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao, who are leagues above Khan in terms of talent.
The best thing for Amir Khan to do, is stop acting like a petulant child, agree a rematch with Lamont Peterson and put the matter to rest. It is still debatable that Amir Khan is even the best Welterweight in Britain, as Kell Brook is certainly beginning to make a name for himself and after a couple more fights could be set to knock Amir Khan off of his perch. Amir Khan vs Kell Brook would definitely be a great fight and hopefully it can be made in the near future.
