A decision is set to be made in the next 24 hours regarding a rematch between Amir Khan and Lamont Peterson. Amir Khan lost his WBA and IBF titles to Lamont Peterson last month under very controversial circumstances and Peterson and his team are set to decide today, whether or not they are willing to agree to a rematch with Khan.
Amir Khan and Golden Boy Promotions have given Lamont Peterson a good offer for the rematch and are expecting him to agree to the terms. Richard Schaefer, of Golden Boy Promotions explained, "Team Khan would agree to a 50-50 split of worldwide revenues derived from a rematch (including those derived from the United Kingdom) should Mr Peterson agree to participate."
If Lamont Peterson does agree to a rematch with Amir Khan, the fight will take place on Saturday, May 19 in Los Angeles. However, if Peterson does not agree to the rematch with Khan, he will instead appeal to the WBA regarding their decision to force a rematch. Peterson’s camp explained, "We are confident the WBA will overturn its decision." We will let you know the outcome, as and when it happens.
