Fans around the world were delighted to discover that Anchorman 2 was finally going to be made and the anticipation for the movie grows daily. Anchorman 2 is set to begin filming next year and writer Adam McKay has been talking about the plans behind the movie.
McKay told The Playlist, “We were going to do Anchorman 2 as a Broadway musical first, for like six months and then go shoot the movie. That was our initial idea.” He also stated that Anchorman 2 is going to be a silly take on the rise of the 24 hour news cycle."
Adam added, “Even though it's going to be a big silly movie, it's all about the rise of the new media and 24 hour news cycle, and there's a lot of interesting points to make about that while being silly.”
Anchorman 2 is set to be titled Anchorman: The Legend Continues and will see the return of Ron Burgundy (Will Ferrell) along with his news team, Brick Tamland (Steve Carell), Brian Fantana (Paul Rudd), and Champ Kind (David Koechner), as well as Veronica Corningstone (Christina Applegate). Anchorman 2 is due to start filming in March next year and will be released in 2014.
