English actress Andrea Riseborough is one of many British stars, who are currently making a name for themselves in America. The 30 year old actress was born and raised in Whitley Bay, a seaside town outside Newcastle, in the North East of England and her lack of neighbours and the long travel to her school was what started her down the path to acting.
Andrea explained, “I was very gregarious but I also needed solace. I lived far away from my school and we were the first people to move into the street so we actually had to wait for neighbours. There was a period of time when there was no option but to have a full internal life.” Her father’s love of film also encouraged her to take up acting, although they never used to discuss the matter.
Riseborough added, “It was never talked about. His relationship with film was very private. We didn’t watch them together. He would sit and watch films on his own and I would come in and catch snippets. My relationship with film and discovery of acting happened very naturally and very privately. I did a lot of talking to myself, sometimes in front of the mirror. I was desperate to get home every day to draw or paint or finish a story. I just remember having this feverish desire every single day from the moment I woke up to do something.”
Andrea Riseborough is certainly a rising star in Hollywood and has a number of projects coming up, as well as those that she has already completed and are awaiting release. Andrea will next appear on the big screen, in the movie Resistance, which is released on November 25. She will also be seen in the Madonna directed movie W.E. which is released on January 20 in the UK and February 3 in the US.
