Andy Samberg has given a recent interview to USA Today talking about the reasons he took a role in the upcoming ‘Hotel Transylvania’, and he attributes it all to Adam Sandler’s influence.
He says, “"Sandler called me and told me I was doing it. He tells you to do stuff and you do it. He's like a highly functional Mob boss. No one's ever said no.”
He also adds that he will certainly miss SNL as he, like cast member Kristen Wiig, left the show for good after his final season. He says, “I took a three-week vacation but other than that, I've been working all the time. It will hit me when the show comes back. I'm bracing myself for feeling sad."
Samberg is best known for his work on SNL, but has recently been branching into films a lot more. He is in the Sandler movie ‘That’s My Boy’ as well as ‘Celeste and Jesse Forever’ with Rashida Jones. He also played a supporting role as Mila Kunis’ ex-boyfriend in the film ‘Friends With Benefits’.
Samberg and Wiig received a lot of criticism for leaving SNL when the show had done so much for them, but they also received praise for taking a chance on their film careers. Both are talented comedians who should go a long way in the film world.
