There has been a lot of talk and attention surround the new movie Maleficent, which stars Angelina Jolie in the lead role and has been released this week. Angelina has been talking about her role in Maleficent, admitting that she can actually relate to her character in a way, as she too has had dark days of her own.
Fortunately for Angelina Jolie though, she has a strong group of family and friends around her who have helped her come through those dark days. Angelina has six children with Brad Pitt, Maddox, 12, Pax, 10, Zahara, nine, Shiloh, seven, and five-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne, and she says that they have been a huge positive in her life.
Jolie told E! News, "I understood that journey. I've been dark, I've been hurt, I've gone walls up, angry and changed, and then children have softened me and opened me up again, and made me remember all those wonderful things and they've helped to heal me. Our friends can do that, our loves can do that and our children do that, so it's a wonderful thing."
She added, "I used to cut myself or jump out of airplanes, trying to find something new to push up against because sometimes everything else felt too easy. I was searching for something deeper, something more. I tried everything. I always felt caged, closed in, like I was punching at things that weren't there. I always had too much energy for the room I was in."
You can catch Angelina Jolie in the titular role of the movie Maleficent, which is out now in both the US and the UK. Check out the Maleficent trailer below.
