Following the success of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it seems that there are a number of other studios that are planning on creating their own movie universe, and not only when it comes to their comic book characters. One of the planned movie universes that we are most looking forward to seeing, is the planned Monster Movie Universe that is taking place over at Universal.
We already know that Hollywood veteran Tom Cruise is going to play the lead role in the new The Mummy reboot movie, with the actor already getting himself deep into preparation for the new film to go into production. With The Mummy moving forward and making progress, we are now getting some casting news for the film and it is actually a lot more exciting than we could have hoped for.
It has been revealed that British actress Annabelle Wallis has been cast as the female lead alongside Tom Cruise in the new The Mummy reboot movie. With this new The Mummy movie being set in the present day, Annabelle will play the role of an archaeologist, while Tom Cruise is expected to play a retired special forces soldier, and actress Sofia Boutella will play the titular villain.
The Mummy is set to be directed by Alex Kurtzman, based on a script developed by Jon Spaihts, with the movie aiming for a June 9, 2017 release date. In the Monster Movie Universe, The Mummy is expected to be joined by The Invisible Man, with Johnny Depp tipped for the lead role, while Angelina Jolie has been rumoured for the role of the Bride of Frankenstein.
