Fans of Sex and the City were delighted when it was revealed that a spinoff show, about the younger years of Carrie Bradshaw, was being made. The Carrie Diaries stars AnnaSophia Robb as the young Carrie Bradshaw but she has admitted that she was not initially keen on accepting the role.

Robb was talking to Teen Vogue, when she explained, “When I was younger, I didn't want to be on TV. I made a conscious decision to stay away from Nickelodeon and the Disney Channel-not that they're not great companies, but because I wanted to play different kinds of roles and have the freedom to choose my projects. So when my agent called about this job, I said no way. TV was too much of a commitment.”
However, AnnaSophia Robb was eventually persuaded to change her mind and took the role in The Carrie Diaries, which meant putting off her university ambitions for the mean time. After the first episode of The Carrie Diaries was heavily criticised, the series will seriously need to pick up or AnnaSophia could find herself regretting her decision after all.
