It was reported last month that actress Anne Hathaway was on a crash diet in a bid to lose 16 pounds in 20 days for her role in Les Misérables. However a representative of Anne Hathaway has dismissed the rumours, claiming that she is only losing a few pounds and it is not as extreme as it has been made out to be.
The rep explained, "She is losing weight for the part, but not that much. Just enough for her to look more frail, as she is playing a dying prostitute. She is consuming more than 500 calories. [The tabloids] are making something of nothing, as usual."
Anne Hathaway is part of an all star cast for Les Misérables, which includes Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe and Amanda Seyfried. Les Misérables is being brought to the big screen by director Tom Hopper, who won an Oscar for his previous movie The King’s Speech.
Les Misérables is set to be released in the US on December 14, 2012 before being released in the UK on January 11, 2013. Anne Hathaway can next be seen as Catwoman in The Dark Knight Rises, which is released on July 20.
