Ant-Man the movie set for 2014?
It was reported yesterday that Marvel were moving forward with a Doctor Strange movie and that the script had been completed and handed in to Marvel Studios. Now it has been confirmed that the script for an Ant-Man movie has also been completed. The Ant-Man screenplay has been penned by Joe Cornish and Edgar Wright, who is also expected to direct the movie, and now they are just waiting for the go ahead by Marvel.
Cornish explained, “It’s good! You know, we’ve been working on that for a while now. We’ve delivered a draft and that’s really in the hands of Edgar and Marvel as to if and when they’ll make it. But we’re pretty excited about our draft.” He added, “He’s a pretty cool character. You know, he’s not a hugely famous Marvel character but in a way that’s kind of cool because people don’t have too many pre-conceptions or expectations.”
Joe continued, “We feel that in quite a crowded market he is a very unique and very different kind of comic book hero. So it will be great if Ant Man got made at some point. We think we’ve written a pretty cool script.” Ant-Man centres around Dr. Hank Pym, whose latest experiment goes awry causing him to be able to communicate with and control insects. With the Doctor Strange movie currently being tipped for a 2013 release, we may have to wait a little longer for Ant-Man the movie but it could hit the big screen in 2014.
