English Super Heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua has shocked a number of people by making the semi finals of the AIBA Boxing World Championships in Baku, Azerbaijan. We were delighted to reveal yesterday that Anthony had made the London 2012 Olympic team and now he is on course for a medal in Azerbaijan.
Not a lot of people really knew much about Anthony Joshua going into the World Championships and the commentators have grow to appreciate his talent over the course of the event. However, they were still doubtful that he had what it takes to get to the semi finals after seeing who he faced.
Anthony was up against the seasoned Italian Roberto Cammarelle who has won the World Championships in both 2007 and 2009 as well as winning a Gold Medal at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Beating such a proven amateur boxer would be a huge step for Joshua but he did not once look intimidated.
Anthony Joshua took the fight to his opponent and showed his obvious class with his snappy jab and quick footwork as well as his powerful right hook. Anthony Joshua has made a lot of new fans thanks to his sensational performances in the World Championships and he is destined to become a household name.
