Pain & Gain actor Anthony Mackie is set to appear on the big screen as Falcon in the movie Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Anthony was already in fairly good shape, for his role in Pain & Gain, and he has revealed how he got fitter for his new role, rather than bulkier.
Mackie told Collider, "Well, it’s more so a cardio thing now. I mean, you know, if you’re a super hero, I didn’t want to get too bulky. You know there’s a lot of limitations to how big I was for Pain and Gain, whereas with this I just want to be fit, you know. I just want to be in shape to where I can go in and do all the stunts and all the things I feel like I would need to do to bring this character to life. So, it all depends."
He added, "I met with the studio very early on and I told them I was going to throw on some weight and get bigger and they said, 'No, no, no, no don’t do that. Stay a smaller weight and we’ll figure out something character-wise.' So, you know, that’s kind of what it turned into."
Anthony Mackie will join the likes of seasoned Marvel stars Chris Evans, Scarlett Johansson, Samuel L Jackson and Cobie Smulders in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which is set to be released on April 4, 2014 in both the US and the UK.
