Training Day director Antoine Fuqua is being lined up to direct the latest Eminem movie Southpaw after agreeing to discuss the idea with DreamWorks. The movie will star Eminem as a boxer who overcomes a tragedy in his personal life, to succeed in the ring.
DreamWorks are hoping that the negotiations can be resolved quickly as they hope to begin production on the movie this year. They are hoping that the film will produce good sales off the back of the successful boxing biopic The Fighter, starring Mark Wahlberg.
Antoine Fuqua is currently lined up to do two biopic films. The first being that of Pablo Escobar and the second of the late rapper Tupac Shakur. Southpaw will be Eminem’s first big screen appearance since his hit movie 8 mile back in 2002.
