We all know that One Direction is famous because of Simon Cowell – he orchestrated the group and their massive rise to fame. However, Louis Walsh has apparently spoken up and told Union J that they are now a ‘threat’ to One Direction.

According to the Daily Star, Jaymi from Union J said, “I loved that Simon was threatened by us. I rang Louis [Walsh] straight away and asked what he said. Louis said Simon was threatened because he has a boyband this year who could topple his. Simon has got the groups on US X Factor so he’s trying to get his own new One Direction from America. But Louis has got his game face on this year, so I think there is an extra bit of competition between Simon and Louis.
He added, “Louis has told us he’s determined to win. It’s nice that we are still on Simon’s radar even though he isn’t on the show this year.”
It all seems like wishful thinking on the part of Union J, especially as One Direction’s time during X Factor was infinitely more popular than Union J is right now. Also, Simon Cowell’s power far extends that of Louis Walsh’s, especially in the United States. Cowell has created three massive empires, including X Factor and American Idol. Walsh is just a judge on X Factor and although he’s also a talent manager, he doesn’t have nearly the pull nor the ability for creating stars that Cowell seems to have.
