With The Lone Ranger set to be released later in the year, we are going to get plenty of promotional material and interviews about the movie. Armie Hammer will appear in the titular role in The Lone Ranger, having beaten a lot of interested actors to the role, and he has been talking about how he won the role.
Hammer explained to Collider, "I heard they were making a Lone Ranger movie and I heard that Jerry Bruckheimer was producing it, that Gore Verbinski was directing it and that Johnny Depp was gonna star in it. I was like, 'that's easy math, I'll do that movie for sure'."
He added, "Then I went in and read with Gore and went back in another time and did a work session with Gore where we just talked about the character and then I went in a third time and sat down with Gore and Justin Haythe, the writer of the project, and we sat on Gore's balcony and smoked cigars and talked about the project, then walked away and that was it."
As well as starring Armie Hammer, The Lone Ranger also stars Johnny Depp as Tonto. The Lone Ranger has been written by Justin Haythe, produced by Jerry Bruckheimer and directed by Gore Verbinski and is set to be released on July 3 in the US and August 9 in the UK.
