With the Marvel Cinematic Universe spreading onto the small screen with Marvel television projects in the work, it is no surprise that DC are doing all that they can to try and compete with them. As well as the eagerly anticipated Batman vs. Superman movie, which will bring more DC characters to the big screen, DC are also expanding their universe on the small screen.
Following the success of the hit television series Arrow, it was no real surprise when The CW revealed that they were looking to bring The Flash to the small screen, first with a guest appearance in Arrow and then with a series of his own. With The Flash series getting ever closer, Marc Guggenheim has spoken about the possibility of a The Flash and Arrow crossover.
Guggenheim told Collider, "Well, we’re fanboys and we always fantasize about, 'Oh, we could do this cross-over. We could do that episode.' Everything is always on the table. I think it’s one of the things that’s made Arrow special. But we also all collectively feel like The Flash needs to stand on its own two feet, now that it’s gotten its launch from Arrow. I would say, as with all things, we trust our instincts to know when is the right time. When the time is right, it will happen."
There have been plenty of rumours about the future of the DC Cinematic Universe, with some people suggesting that we will see Grant Gustin, as The Flash, and Stephen Amell, as Green Arrow, appearing in the end credits scene of the Batman vs. Superman movie, although that has not been officially confirmed.
