There have been a number of comparisons made between the characters in the hit The CW television series Arrow and Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy and the producers have made no secret about the inspiration and influence they have taken from it. Now, Andrew Kreisberg has claimed that they tried to make their version of Count Vertigo in a similar way that Nolan did Ra’s al Ghul in Batman Begins.

Liam Neeson as Ra's al Ghul
While talking about the character to Sci Fi Now, Kreisberg explained, “The comic-book version of him, the Count Werner von Vertigo… when your last name is Vertigo of course you’re going to grow up to be a super villain who uses vertigo as a weapon.”
He added, “That concept just doesn’t exist in our world, and we’ve never been shy about saying that we’ve taken all of our cues from Chris Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy, and how he took somebody like Ra’s al Ghul, played by Liam Neeson, who was immortal in the comics and presented a realistic take on how he could be immortal, by having a front man who could be killed and allowing him to survive.”

Count Vertigo set to appear in Arrow
Arrow stars Stephen Amell as Oliver Queen, Colin Donnell as Tommy, Katie Cassidy as Laurel Lance, David Ramsey as John Diggle, Willa Holland as Thea Queen, Susanna Thompson as Moira Queen, and Paul Blackthorne as Detective Quentin Lance and is set to return to The CW on January 16th.
