It has been reported that Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is preparing to make a £10m summer swoop for Fulham’s American striker Clint Dempsey. Clint has been in inspired form this season, leading the clubs scoring chart with 19 goals so far.
Arsenal were interested in signing Dempsey last summer but things did not go to plan and he ended up staying at Fulham. However, Arsenal have some cash to spend this summer and it is likely that a number of players will be shown the exit door, freeing up further funds.
Arsenal currently have a number of strikers out on loan, such as Nikolas Bendtner and Carlos Vela, and Arsene Wenger also seems to be losing patience with Moroccan striker Marouane Chamakh who could also be on his way out of the club this summer.
The leave Arsenal in need of another striker to support their goal machine, Robin van Persie and it seems that Clint Dempsey fits the bill perfectly. It remains to be seen whether Fulham accept the off but it is likely that the player will push for the move.
Do you think that Clint Dempsey is good enough for Arsenal?
