Arsenal will be looking to put the embarrassment of their 8-2 defeat against Manchester United at Old Trafford earlier this season behind them, as they take on the Red Devils at the Emirates today. Arsenal will also be hoping to close the gap on fourth place Chelsea, who drew 0-0 with Norwich City yesterday, to just two points. Meanwhile, Manchester United will be looking to keep pace with Premier League leaders Manchester City, who play Tottenham Hotspur this afternoon.
Arsenal striker Thierry Henry looks doubtful to play any part in today’s match following a calf strain, while Thomas Vermaelen is still a major doubt to start. Mikel Arteta is also still on the injury list, which boasts a number of Arsenal’s first choice players including Jack Wilshere, Kieran Gibbs and Bakary Sagna, to name just a few.
As for Manchester United, they will be able to select both defenders Chris Smalling and Phil Jones, who missed last weekend’s win over Bolton due to minor injuries. However, midfielder Anderson will not be available after picking up an injury during training. England midfielder Tom Cleverley is still out but looks set to make his return against Liverpool next month.
