Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is hoping that the sale of Robin Van Persie, to Manchester United in the summer, will help his chances of signing Nani in the January transfer window. Nani has fallen out of favour at Old Trafford and the club could be set to cash in on the Portuguese winger.
It is very rare for a top club such as Arsenal, to sell one of their biggest stars to a rival club, but a personal phone call from Sir Alex Ferguson persuaded Arsene Wenger to let his Dutch striker leave for £24m. Now, Wenger is hoping that he can do the same in January to land Nani.
Arsenal will be looking to strengthen in the wide areas, with Gervinho heading off to the African Nations and Andrey Arshavin being told that he is no longer needed. Then there is the fact that Theo Walcott is set to play as a striker from now and what a striker he is proving to be.
Theo Walcott has played his last three games up top for Arsenal and has managed to bag himself five goals in the process. Arsene Wenger will be hoping to persuade Theo that his future is still with the Gunners and that he can become a world-class striker at Arsenal.
Do you think Arsenal will sign Nani from Manchester United?
