Don Francisco has been entertaining the Spanish speaking audience, in the United States, for more than 51 years with his TV show “Sabado Gigante”; this show has been recognized as “the world’s longest running variety TV show” by the “Guinness Book of World Records”. When he is not hosting his show, he is always up to something new and 2013 was not the exception.
In November, he was given a special award for his contribution to the music industry by the Latin Grammy Awards. Being said he is a host, you might be asking yourself in what way has he contributed to the music industry; the answer lies upon the hundreds of new musical talent that he constantly presents on his show. Many of those artists have been discovered and have gotten a record deal. According to an interview Don Francisco gave to The Associated Press, he stated that he was going to receive the award in name of his entire Sabado Gigante team.
Just a few days ago, like every year, he was seen in the Chile’s Telethon, which was again a huge success. They were able to gross millions of dollars in just 24 hours. He is also a participant in the Telethon USA; this year, Telethon USA has begun constructing the first children’s rehabilitation center in San Antonio, TX.
For 2014, Sabado Gigante will still be going strong and we will be able to see what he does best—helping others.
