Avril Lavigne has revealed how she put a lot of heart and soul into her latest album Goodbye Lullaby, which was released back in March. Avril added that she packed it full of emotion after her friends talked her into keeping in the tracks that made them actually cry.
Lavigne explained, “Throughout this album, there are some real vulnerable moments, where I didn’t hold back when it came to writing, just because I wanted it to be real, I wanted it to move somebody. Some of the songs I didn’t want to put on the record, and my girlfriends made me. They were their favourites. When I played these songs for my friends and family, sometimes they would cry. I’ve never really had that for my songs before.”
Goodbye Lullaby is the fourth studio album to come from Avril Lavigne over the course of her ten year career and it is also the first since her divorce from Sum 41 rocker Deryck Whibley. You can tell just from listening to Goodbye Lullaby that Avril has drawn on some of that for inspiration on some of the tracks. Goodbye Lullaby is available now.
