27 year old pop punk singer, Avril Lavigne has revealed how, when she was a young girl, she had a dream of becoming an ice hockey player. Avril claims that her father would always put ice skates on her and take her skating, while her brother played for an ice hockey team and she really looked up to him. However, Avril hung up her skates when she was 16 years old and focussed on becoming a singer.
Lavigne explained, “My dad had me on ice skates in the backyard pond when I was 2 years old. Everyone plays hockey where I'm from. I grew up at the hockey arena because my older brother, Matthew played so I wanted to play. I would watch his games while wearing his jersey and cheering on the side with pompoms. Having him to look up to made me to want play sports.”
Avril Lavigne recently revealed how she had put a lot of emotion into her latest album Goodbye Lullaby, after her friends encouraged her to put in songs that made them cry. Avril also revealed recently that she has signed up to join LA Reid and his record label Epic Records. LA Reid initially worked with Avril earlier in her career.
