With the upcoming 2014 Academy Awards just around the corner, there has been plenty of talks about which of the big name stars are going to walk away with which Oscars. A lot of focus has been on Jennifer Lawrence winning another Oscar or Leonardo DiCaprio winning his first but the star that interests us most is Barkhad Abdi.
Barkhad Abdi starred with Tom Hanks in the movie Captain Phillips and, while Tom is considered one of the biggest and best stars on the planet, it was Barkhad who stole the show. Abdi has been talking about working with such a huge Hollywood star, admitting that it was a little difficult to boss Tom around at the start of filming.
During a recent interview with New York Post, Abdi explained, "Oh yeah. The first time I met Tom was the first time we see each other on the screen [as Abdi’s character hijacks the captain’s ship]. That scene was by far the scariest scene for me, and it was good because if we would have met before that, it would have changed the whole dynamic."
Barkhad Abdi faces stiff competition for the Best Supporting Actor Oscar, as the category also includes Bradley Cooper for “American Hustle”, Michael Fassbender for “12 Years a Slave”, Jonah Hill for “The Wolf of Wall Street” and Jared Leto for “Dallas Buyers Club”.
The 86th Academy Awards, which is hosted by Ellen DeGeneres, will take place on March 2 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood
