Actress Bellamy Young admits that she is loving the complications that come forth with playing the role of Mellie Grant on the hit television show "Scandal". For her it has been an amazing experience especially considering that when it first started the show's creator had let her know that she might only be around for two or three episodes as she only had two lines in the pilot. However, the show has grown and she became integral to the filming of the show.
For the talented Yale educated actress the role is very different than who she is in real life. Her character on the show, the First Lady of the United States, does not doubt herself while in her own personal life she admits to being prone to self-doubt on every level for the majority of her days.
It is surprising that she says she is prone to self-doubt because the woman that fans see on television is one who is easy to both love and hate and has fans entranced by her immensely complicated nature. On her face she portrays the image of the perfect wife as the First Lady of the United States and yet the audience and herself connect with the anger that is boiling inside of her as she fights to protect her marriage against the President's lover, Olivia Pope played by Kerry Washington.
Her exceptional acting performance on "Scandal" has led to her starring role in the movie "Day Out of Days", a drama with Melanie Griffith that is now in post-production and will be released in 2015.
Bellamy Young may not have had many lines in the pilot but this talented actress looks like she is going to be a fixture on both the small and big screens of Hollywood for the foreseeable future to the delight of her fans and filmmakers.
