Ben Affleck has been enjoying a growing reputation as a director and his latest film Argo showed just how good Ben is behind the camera. However, he admits that he would not be the right man to direct the new Star Wars movie and backs JJ Abrams as the Star Wars: Episode 7 director.
JJ Abrams

Affleck told MTV News, “It's very exciting that they're going to make more. There might be purists who are opposed to it, but I think it's a very cool thing and I'm excited to go see the movie.”

He added, “You're never going to be able to recapture the story that was the initial three, because it's so legendary and iconic. I don't know, I'm glad I don't have that job. It's a tough decision to make. I'd be too busy worrying about how the action figures would look for each character to direct the actual movie.”

Ben then revealed that he would back JJ Abrams to direct the new Star Wars movie, “JJ would kill it, he would crush it, but he would be great at anything .There are a lot of good directors out there. Naturally I would be inclined to get somebody who's great at telling stories.”

Unfortunately, JJ Abrams all but ruled himself out of the running to direct Star Wars: Episode 7 and it was recently revealed that there were only a couple of people who were officially in the running. Star Wars: Episode 7 is expected to be released in 2015.
