With DC trying to catch up with Marvel, who have been leading the way with comic book adaptations for the past few years now, there has been a lot of anticipation about the upcoming projects that we are getting on both the big screen and the small screen. While most of the talk has been about the Batman vs. Superman movie and the potential Justice League film, there is also another smaller project that DC are bringing our way, with the new television series Gotham.
Gotham is a Batman prequel which acts as an origin project for the likes of Jim Gordon and a whole host of Batman villains such as Catwoman, The Penquin, The Joker, Two Face, Poison Ivy and The Riddler. We also get a good look at a young Bruce Wayne as he goes through the devastation of witnessing his parents being murdered. With no actual Batman to speak of, there have been some fans questioning whether the project will actually work, although it seems that FOX have confidence in the show, as they have already ordered it to a full season.
The new Gotham trailer has now been released and the footage gives us the best look yet at the DC characters that we will get to experience over the course of the first season of the series. We are really looking forward to seeing what Ben McKenzie brings to the role of Jim Gordon but from the look of this trailer he pretty much hits the nail on the head.
As well as having Ben McKenzie as Jim Gordon, Gotham also sees Camren Bicondova as Selina Kyle aka Catwoman, Robin Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot aka The Penguin, Clare Foley as Ivy Pepper aka Poison Ivy, and Corey Michael Smith as Edward Nygma aka The Riddler.
