Plans for a fourth instalment of Beverly Hills Cop have been ongoing for many years now but Eddie Murphy is still believed to be interested in making Beverly Hills Cop 4 become a reality. A sequel was first suggested way back in 2007 but never came to be.
Then it was announced that Eddie Murphy had convinced Brett Ratner to direct Beverly Hills Cop 4 and that filming would begin in 2009, with the release expected for the same year. Yet once again this never amounted to anything, with Ratner saying at the time, “Murphy is sensitive about it. He made two great ones. The third one didn't really work. It's an important film for him. It's a character that's iconic."
However, it appears that moves are currently being made to get the wheels back in motion for Beverly Hills Cop 4. A new script is believed to be in the process of being written but it will need the approval of Eddie Murphy before being made. The anticipated date for a release is being guessed as 2014.
