Following the success of the 2003 comedy movie Bad Santa, there has been a lot of talk about a sequel happening, with talks of a Bad Santa 2 going on for years. Now, Billy Bob Thornton, who was the star of the movie, has admitted that Bad Santa 2 will eventually happen, once they have gotten over the issues.
Thornton told Collider, "It's all logisitics. That's this business crap, with the rights here, and a person who thinks this, and this person wanting that kind of script .... they're still working on it".
He added, "I think our mistake, and certainly my mistake, was that when people heard about it on the internet or in interviews, they would ask me 'are you doing Bad Santa?' and I would say 'oh yeah, we're gonna do it this fall' ... when people tell me stuff, I still believe it."
As well as starring Billy Bob Thornton, Bad Santa also starred Tony Cox, Brett Kelly, Lauren Graham and Bernie Mac. Bad Santa was made with a budget of $18m and went on to make over £60m in the US alone. With plenty of issues still to iron out, it could still be some time before we get to see a Bad Santa 2 movie being made.
