It is fair to say that 2014 was one of the biggest and best years that we have had for movies in quite some time, with some absolutely fantastic films being released over the course of the year. The only issue with having so many great movies being released in the same year, is that only five of these films can actually be nominated for an Academy Award at the 2015 Oscars.
Birdman won best Oscar

The Oscars 2015 has been going strong for a while now and we have already seen a number of awards being dished out. With the amount of movies to choose from for an Oscar nomination, it was never going to be easy to get them down to just five but five is all we have and it was going to be a close call as to which of these five movies would win the Best Motion Picture of the Year.

In the running for the Best Motion Picture of the Year was Whiplash (Jason Blum, David Lancaster, Helen Estabrook), American Sniper (Bradley Cooper, Clint Eastwood, Peter Morgan, Robert Lorenz, Andrew Lazar), Birdman (Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, John Lesher, James W. Skotchdopole), The Imitation Game (Teddy Schwarzman, Nora Grossman, Ido Ostrowsky), and The Grand Budapest Hotel (Wes Anderson, Scott Rudin, Steven M. Rales, Jeremy Dawson).

The winner of the Best Motion Picture of the Year Oscar at the 87th Academy Awards goes to Birdman with the award being picked up by Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, John Lesher, James W. Skotchdopole.

Well that is the Oscars over for another year. Do you think the right people won?
