Hollywood actor Bradley Cooper worked very hard to get himself prepared to play the role of the late Navy SEAL Chris Kyle in American Sniper, working out and bulking up to look the part, while spending time with the family of Chris, in order to better understand the man he would be playing. Well it seems that the preparation has all paid off, as Bradley has received high praise from the person who matters the most, Chris Kyle's wife Taya Kyle.
Taya Kyle has been talking about the movie, admitting that she was very impressed with how Bradley Cooper portrayed her late husband, almost making her forget that she was watching a movie. There was one thing in particular that was really on point and that was when Bradley would sniff while looking through the scope of his sniper rifle. Taya said of the scene, "It'd be almost like a tell in poker. In a stressful situation, Chris would do that."
It was not only Bradley Cooper who impressed Taya Kyle though, as she also had lots of words of praise for the writer of the movie, Jason Hall, who she says got everything spot on. Taya says that, any woman who has a loved one who has gone to war, will be able to relate to the movie in a very personal way.
Kyle added, "I give him so much credit. Writers are often overlooked in Hollywood, but truly he was available, even when it was 1 o'clock in the morning before I could finally talk. We had a really authentic film. If you go to combat and you have people who love you at home, some version of this story is your story."
American Sniper is directed by Clint Eastwood and is out now in both the US and the UK.
