Over the years we have seen a number of actors losing a drastic amount of weight for movie roles, with Matthew McConaughey losing a huge amount for Dallas Buyers Club, while Christian Bale did the same for The Machinist. Now, it looks like Bradley Cooper has been trying to shed the pounds for his new role in The Elephant Man.

It was previously claimed that Bradley Cooper was looking to lose around 40 pounds, before he began working on The Elephant Man but it has not been as easy as he would have hoped. Bradley has revealed how working on the new movie Burnt made it very difficult to lose weight, as there was always so much food amazing food around.
Cooper was chatting to WENN, when he explained, "The food on set was unbelievable. We were cooking and the way they set it up was (real-life chef) Marcus Wareing created the dishes and then we would have recipes. All the other cooks were not extra actors; they were cooks that work in Michelin star restaurants around London."

He added, "We were cooking the food, so we were eating the food. In between takes we would eat a lot of the meat. I was trying to lose 40 pounds, so it was kind of a nightmare to do a cooking movie in between. You'll see scenes in the movie where my face is two inches wider than other times because we shot out of sequence."
Burnt will hit the big screen on October 30 in the US, before then opening on November 6 in the UK.
