There were a lot of excited fans when it was announced that Brandon Routh had been cast in the role of Ray Palmer aka Atom in Arrow season three, which will premiere in a few weeks time. Brandon was recently a guest on The DJ Tanner Show, when talk turned to playing his new role and how it compared to that of playing Superman.

Brandon Routh played Superman in Superman Returns
Routh was asked to compare the Atom costume to the Superman costume, to which he said, "It's a totally different suit and I haven't been in it yet, I've only seen drawings. It's a very different character and I really can't say too much about what the suit's going to look like - just that it's very different and I don't believe it has a cape, which doesn't really surprise anybody if you've seen The Atom in the comics."
As well as talking about the new Atom costume for his role in Arrow season 3 and how it compares to the Superman costume that he had for the movie Superman Returns, Brandon Routh also spoke about his feelings towards that movie. Brandon says that nobody has ever criticised it to his face, while claiming that he meets fans who are ashamed to be fans of the film.

Routh added, "It doesn't weigh on me and never really did. I took the job knowing full well that was going to be something that was going to be part of my life probably forever. Thankfully, it's in a good way. I'm proud of the movie and a lot of people enjoyed it so that helps, I guess. And having it be such an inspirational, iconic role, that's a nice thing to carry with me and have it be part of who people see me as."
We cannot wait to see Brandon Routh in his role as Ray Palmer aka Atom in Arrow season three and we do not have too much longer to wait. Arrow season three will premiere on The CW on Wednesday, October 8 at 8/7c.
