Over the decades we have seen many great Brazil teams, with plenty of great Brazilian players along the way, including the likes of Pele and Ronaldo, who have both performed on the big stage, proving themselves at World Cups. WIth the World Cup 2014 taking place in Brazil this year, all eyes will be on the national team and one player in particular.
21-year-old Brazilian striker Neymar has struggled to make the big impact that everyone was expecting this season, following his big move to Barcelona from Santos last Summer. With that said, everyone in Brazil will still be looking to Neymar to shoot his country to World Cup 2014 success, something which his team-mate Dani Alves expects him to do.
Alves explained, "Neymar is superbly talented and had a good season. You have to remember that he was playing his first season in Europe and Spain is not an easy country to make your debut. Barcelona have a unique style of football. You have to adapt it and it takes quite some time."
He added, "But Neymar did not take much time to be fit into the team, basically because of his technical excellence and tactical awareness. At this tender age, this kind of maturity on the field is quite rare. That is why we all know he is special and he will show the same in the World Cup."
Brazil will kick-off the tournament with their opening Group A game against Croatia on Thursday, June 12. Following that, Brazil will then play Mexico on Tuesday, June 17, with their final group match coming against Cameroon on Monday, June 23.
Who do you think will win the World Cup 2014?
