When it was revealed that How I Met Your Mother was coming to an end, it was no surprise that CBS were giving us a new show with a very familiar format, which was titled Friends With Better Lives. The show managed to get together an impressive cast, including the likes of Brooklyn Decker, James Van Der Beek and Kevin Connolly, but it was not enough to make the show a success.
It was announced that CBS had decided to pull Friends With Better Lives from their schedule, which led to a Twitter campaign to try to save the show. While the push to save Friends With Better Lives did get a lot of support from the fans, it was not enough to save the show, although it did manage to get one extra episode aired on CBS.
James Van Der Beek took to his Twitter account at the time, to say, "Hey west coast team #savefwbl... The unplanned episode you made happen is about to air. I really hope you enjoy it. You earned it..." Meanwhile, Brooklyn Decker added, "We didn't save the show, but you guys were heard. They decided to air us again tonight 8:30 CBS. Thanks for the push last week ! #savefwbl".
As well as starring Brooklyn Decker, James Van Der Beek and Kevin Connolly, the rest of the main cast of Friends With Better Lives included Majandra Delfino, Zoe Lister Jones, and Rick Donald. Now that How I Met Your Mother has come to an end and Friends With Better Lives has been cancelled, we hope CBS can come up with a new format, rather than just recycling the same old one time and again.
Do you think CBS were right to cancel Friends With Better Lives?
