Brit Award nominee Bruno Mars has revealed how the recession in the UK inspired him to write one of the most successful songs of his career so far. Bruno was in the UK when he was short changed trying to convert some of his US dollars into English pound sterling, which inspired him to pen the Travie McCoy hit Billionaire.
Mars explained, "I was in London and I wanted to exchange pounds. So I gave him $500 and he basically gave me back £200. I was like 'What?! How does this work?' This is how the Billionaire thing started out. I started humming it on the streets. Travie came along later and put his verses on it and then it hit the charts."
Bruno Mars is set to return to the UK later this month, as he is nominated for the Best International Male at the upcoming Brit Awards and he stands quite a good chance of taking the gong home with him. The Brit Awards are expected to follow the trend of the Grammy Awards and be dominated by singer Adele. The Brit Awards are set to take place on February 21 in London at the O2 Arena.
