Singer Bruno Mars has revealed exactly what it was that inspired the music video for his latest single Locked Out of Heaven. Bruno claims that the main theme came from his childhood, when people had to struggle with the days of the VHS.

Mars told MTV News, “It's very VHS-y. I love that man, it takes me back to my childhood, when the tracking is off and the colour is off, there's a beauty in that. You'd have to stand by the TV with, like, aluminium foil all over you. The concept is just old-fashioned fun. No story line, it's not me singing to a girl, you get a good sense of what you're going to get live.”
While many people expected Bruno Mars to go the same way as many other global superstars and release his new video via a promo in a prime time network deal, Bruno admits that he wanted to avoid that and inside go directly to his fan with it via the internet.

He added, “It was finished a couple of days ago, [and], you know, a lot of times people want to do a big premiere or something like that. But I feel like, with the Internet, I have the luxury to go straight to the fans and say, 'Here it is.'”
Bruno Mars is set to release his new album Unorthodox Jukebox sometime in December.
